Tornados

Tornados—especially ones that park themselves next to hospitals—can fuck right the fuck off.

Looters. Looters can fuck right off to the special level of hell reserved for child molesters and those who talk in movie theaters.

People who complain about no music on radio stations offering storm and recovery coverage 24/7—and are helping people find their loved ones in the mess in Joplin—can fuck right off. Listen to your iPods or CDs. We're working on surviving.

People who complain about no cable or internet when they're still pulling survivors out of the wreckage in Joplin can fuck right off. You can complain when everyone is accounted for.

I'm posting this early because while we're safe, we had to go to my mother's to get internet access. And I'm too mentally exhausted to get worked up about this.

So sorry to hear you've been affected by it, HH. Glad you are safe--and yeah, fuck off to looters. It's one thing to take necessities out of desperation, but it's totally another to take advantage of victims and steal what little made it past the tornado. Ugh.

I'm issuing a huge FO to the word "staycation" and anyone who feels the need to use it. It's condescending. We didn't have family vacations when I was a kid; my parents were paying for our education. I've never been to Disney World. And yet here's someone whining to me about how they're not going away to the shore or the mountains for Memorial Day weekend. No, but I notice you got your nails done AGAIN.

I just faxed a ton of medical paperwork in hopes that the cat's insurance might kick me something back out of several hundred bucks, and I'm home making sure she gets her meds all weekend. SO BITE ME.

Amen, ladies.

Oh, except for the word "staycation" - I like the word. We've done it several times.

I don't like the whining by people who want to go to DW or anywhere else, Kate, I get that. But a "staycation" is really not bad.

O.K., I'll grant you that it does depend on how they say it--a lot of people use it in a lamenting way, looking for pity. I don't have any in that case.
